Hyla arenicolor
I found this little frog by a temporal pond inside a canyon in a desert range, still part of the Chiuahuan Desert ecoregion
The skin color of this frog simulates the color of the surrounding rocks

I find that range maps are pretty well defined for birds and mammals, but not quite so much for insects and amphibians. Then there may be unknown populations, especially in remote areas. Always good to consult an expert in questionable IDs.
There we go, the IUCN range map is much better, thanks a lot Gordon!!! I think I should contact some local herpethologist to corroborate this ID.
Yeah, a couple of range descriptions only took the species' range to "northern Mexico." Did you look at this IUCN range map? http://maps.iucnredlist.org/map.html?id=...
I'm not sold on the Hyla arenicolor, but I think it could still be a possibility.
Thanks Gordon and Emilie for the ID. To me it looks like Hyla arenicolor but it's out of the range maps I've found so far, I'll keep looking for more info
Nice find!
Great spot!
Possibly Hyla chrysoscelis.
Espectacular rana
Interesting spotting! I'm not sure what this is, but is one possibility:
Hyla arenicolor: http://www.desertmuseumdigitallibrary.or...
Will be interested in what you find out and if you are able to further refine the ID.
Good idea, thanks again Sachin
