Description:

Tiny slender black & yellow damselfly. The Fragile Forktail is a member of the Ischnura genus and it grows between 21 and 29 mm. Its range consist of eastern Canada and eastern United States.

Habitat:

Bull's run, Ashland City, Tennessee

See the ! on the abdomen? Remember if your damselfly has one, it's a Fragile Forktail. Some females, particular older ones, don't show the ! though.

Thanks Jolly! I was aware of that but I've just not had a chance to spend any time on bugguide to look for the exact species & I was hoping someone in the community would recognize it!

Damselflies belong to the order ODONATA. You can start from there to identify exactly the species.
