Green Milkweed Vine. Pearl Milkweed. Net-vein Milkvine

Matelea reticulata

Description:

Twining, climbing vine to15 feet. Soft, hairy, perennial somewhat sticky to touch. Flowers are pale green, star shaped, with darker green netlike veination and a small pearly dot in the center of the star. Leaves heart shaped.

Habitat:

Various soils in open woodlands, fencerows, and thickets. These were spotted in both woods and a garden near a house.

Notes:

A host plant to monarch butterfly.

Very nice--I can't resist green flowers. Interesting, the leaves look just like pipevine leaves.
