False Turkey Tail

Stereum versicolor

Description:

A wavy-margined thin shelf fungus about 35mm wide, arising from the side of a dead log. The upper surface had wavy lines of cream and deep red colour. The upper surface also had a layer of mossy green colour. The underside was smooth.

Habitat:

damp eucalyptus forest

Notes:

Unsure if this is Stereum ostrea or Trametes sp ... My thanks go to CordeneanuVlad and Clive Shirley for assisting with the ID. I have accepted this as a species of Stereum - thanks to Clive.

Thank you very much Mr CS. I am still thoroughly confused but I do agree that this looks like my other Stereum. It is a pity I did not take more shots of this bracket.
