Blue-banded Bee

Amegilla sp

Description:

large bee, light blue, blue and black bands on abdomen

Habitat:

tropical forest and grasslands

Notes:

I spotted this along a road through Thung Salaeng Luang National Park. I was riding a mountain bike when I decided to take a break in an area I was seeing a lot of butterflies. This blue bee kept flying around me and landing on my lens and my backpack. I had never seen a blue bee like this before. I was grateful it was fairly cooperative to photography!
