Simiskina pheretia bilitis
Butterfly with bright turquoise colour with dark grey dots.
Found on the jungle floor sheltered by the canopy in Aceh, Indonesia
Thanks, I thought my research skills had gone to pot :)Adrian has been doing a lot of work on his site. I will be glad when it is back to 100% as I am a bit lost without it.Dave
Ops mistype. It wasn't on the site I actually emailed him and Adrian was kind enough to ID it for me.
Chez - the link is incorrect. It should readhttp://www.learnaboutbutterflies.comThis is my main reference for butterflies, but still I cannot find it on the site! Well done for tracking it down :)Dave
I have a name for this butterfly at last thanks to the help of Adrian Hoskins www.learningaboutbutterflies.comIt's a Simiskina pheretia bilitis
I've tried looking through images online but no luck either. Keep my fingers crossed I'll get an id eventually.
Hi travellingchez!I haven't found an ID so far but I found two images of the same butterfly, also photographed in Aceh:http://www.fredhoogervorst.com/photo/055...http://www.flickr.com/photos/39295360@N0...
Neither can Dave. Does anyone know what this beautiful butterfly is called?
So distinctive that I cannot believe that it hasn't been identified by the experts here!It has an appias look about it.DAve
Do any butterfly experts know what this one is?
