Northern caracara

Description:

An largish raptor with distinct white next and wing patches, black body and bright orange face, and long legs (for a raptor). When flyling (no photo, alas) it had clearly visible which patches on wings.

Habitat:

Seen an open area with clumps of trees, near ponds.

Notes:

Its also called "crested caracara" .. not sure which is more current.
