Agaric mushroom

Agaricus sp

Description:

A pale brown mushroom with a cap about 40mm wide. The cap appeared mottled with distinct brown patches and some scaling towards the margin. The stipe predominantly white showed pale brown stains. A delicate annulus was seen on around the stipe. Gills were crowded and notched with dark brown/black stains - ?spores.

Habitat:

Spotted growing amongst tea-trees in a coastal area.

Notes:

Thanks to Clive Shirley for suggesting the identity of this mushroom. It is difficult to determine the species.
