Upperside is chestnut brown; forewing with 2 brown bars in the cell, no white spots, and no eyespots near the outer margin. Hindwing uppersides are orange with black submarginal spots in one form, and all black in the other form.
Densely wooded riparian areas, dry woods, open woods, cities, fencerows, parks.
Ah, that one always gets me confused! I always mix it up with the Variegated. Nice catch, Keith.

Very similar to Euptoieta, however, not Claudia, but Hegesia, Mexican Fritillary. Keith, good job on Tawny Emperor, which it definitely is!!
I think this is a Tawny Emperor. The medial black cell would be closed on a Variegated Fritillary and there would be a submarginal row of balck spots on the forewing.
