Osprey

Description:

Large raptor with a distinct black eye patch and black wings.

Habitat:

Lakes, rivers. Often observed hunting fish and nesting or perched in snags next to water.

Notes:

My wife saw three osprey at this location (on a large snag near the dam at Blue Mesa Reservoir) and she took these photos through a spotting scope. She watched as one of the osprey ate a fish.
