Grasshopper nymph with erythrism

Acrididae, Oedipodinae, genus Trimerotropis

Description:

Small (1/2 inch), bright pink grasshopper nymph. The unusual color morph is caused by a recessive gene similar to the one that causes albinism.

Habitat:

Found on a dry hillside in Curecanti National Recreation Area, Colorado.
