Conoderus sp
This beetle is just under a half inch long.
Tropical Dry Forest in NW Costa Rica, beginning of rainy season. Captured under a street lamp at night.
Thanks Jolly. This is the second one that I have found in the area in the last three months. Each of the two are slightly different. I got lucky on this one. It is is hard to get good focus and bokeh shooting macro at night.
Thanks Maria!
They could be different but that's the best match I could find for now. I hope there would be some entomologist from costa rica to positively identify your specimen. Your specimen is really nice. Great spotting.
Great link Jolly....The markings on this click beetle and your reference are slightly different. Is there a chance that they are different species?
