A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Veronica chamaedrys
A creeping perennial plant with hairy stems and leaves, and gorgeous blue flowers. The flowers have only one line of symmetry and the shape is typical of the speedwells. Can grow in extensive patches as they creep across the ground and form extra roots from nodes on the stem. Native to Europe and northern Asia.
Commonly found on grassland, woodland and hedgerow banks. I found these mainly in open grassy areas.
These have sprung up on the wet meadow as well as around the lakes on the University of Essex. They are gorgeous, I love the colour!
