Description:

Yellow, sometimes red or purple parasitic herb to 12 cm tall, From a thick tuber-like underground stem.

Habitat:

Usually growing with Salal, at low elevations; southwestern B.C. South to California, rare on the Queen Charlotte Islands. ( I took these photos while on a surf trip to Tofino, at Wickaninnish Beach)
