Familiar Bluet Damselfly (in tandem)

Enallagma civile

Description:

This pair is resting on the rock wall. They are in tandem, the male has the female gripped with his tail, and they will fly to the pond this way. This prevents another male from mating with her before she lays her eggs. It also helps suspend her over the water as she lays the eggs.
