A tiny unidentified grasshopper (nymph?). The leaf in the spotting was approximately 8cm tip to base. The (short-horned) grasshopper is an insect of the suborder Caelifera in the order Orthoptera. Recent estimates indicate some 2,400 valid Caeliferan genera and about 11,000 valid species described to date. Many undescribed species exist, especially in tropical wet forests. The Caelifera are predominantly tropical. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grasshopper... )
Spotted on Bougainvillea sp. in a large semi-urban yard & garden situated next to a disturbed patch of remnant forest.
