Red velvet mite

Description:

At the limits of my camera this little creature was crawling around in mosses and lichens and at first sight I thought it was a red velvet mite. Then I noticed it has a strong white band across its back.

Habitat:

In mosses on a wet soil wall in a railway cutting.

I saw lots of these today but had the same problem of getting a clear shot. They are very tiny and always quick on the move.
