Accipiter gentilis
Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis) killing Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), Zoo Leipzig, Sachsen, Germany. THIS IS A WILDLIFE SHOT! It was taken in the Zoo aera, but they are not captive animals!! Nothing for sentimental minds!!
In the thick of the crowd a juvenile goshawk, due to size probably a female, hunted for a grey heron. A heron seemed to be a little bit out of the league of a goshawk! From about 15 m both dropped down. The rest is pure nature and pure brutality and bloodiness!!! So, please, be aware of this!

Thanks, Siggy! I was very surprised myself first by the noise these birds crashing through the whole tree to the floor and then seeing who these two guys actually were!
Wow, great set of images. I would have never expected a large heron to become the hunted by another bird.
Tja, that's life! Thanks, Stefania.
beautiful picture... :-*
Thanks Emily!
AMAZING SHOTS! I've never seen a goshawk. They really do look like giant Cooper's Hawks! What an amazing series, thanks for sharing!

Nature in its raw form! Great series!
For me they are OK, but it was little bit tricky to upload them, had to re-load and arrange them several times.
Lovely series Dominik!
The first & last photos aren't showing for me so can you check to see if they are appearing for you & if not reload them?
Thanks folks!
Great pictures bayucca!
Great series, like #2 :)
Great Series! Must have been amazing to see! We are all aware that nature is brutal, however you are right, some should be aware that the depiction of events is true to nature and it's course. Thank you so much for sharing!
