Dysphania militaris
This moth/ butterfly was spotted by one of our friends (who'd kept it for me to photograph it), one afternoon at the confluence of Rivers Tia and Subansiri, some 50-60km south of Daporijo, where we'd camped for mahseer angling (night two of the expedition on Subansiri River). It's almost frozen, hardly moving at that time, hence after some photos I hid it underneath a bouldeer. The following day when the sun came and warmed the area I went see it. It's moving! When I exposed it to the warmth of the sun it just flew away!
Just my curiosity NuwanChathuranga, why is this butterfly named 'moth' that too 'false (tiger) moth'? Thanks.
Thanks ChiefRedEarth, Apple, Marta Rubio Texeira, AgnesAdiqueTalavera and Chamalka Dulmini for making it favourite.
