Northern Harrier

Circus cyaneus

Description:

It was fairly far away, so I did not get a clear look at it before it flew away. When it did, I only saw it from the top, and glimpsed a distinct patch of white at the base of the tail near the body. The rest of the back was brown. Probably a juvenile or a female.

Habitat:

Area around Lake Belton in central Texas
