Clouded sulphur

Colias philodice

Notes:

I have been chasing these guys around for weeks now trying to get a decent macro. Finally I found one that stayed put while I lay on my stomach in the grass to get a few shots!

Thank you Pam! I have a Lumix FZ40 which has a 24x zoom. I upgraded from my previous Lumix last year & bought a Raynox macro converter that just clips on & off the lens. I find them great cameras for point & shoots, not too pricey & really light & easy to handle too.
Sergio - that happens to me all the time too!

Sometimes I am photographing beside a road or a trail, then somebody stops by and keeps looking in the same direction I am. Then, he/she asks, almost whispering "what are you looking for?". When I say (whispering too) that I am looking for insects, they say "Ooooh!", then he/she shakes their head and goes on, looking over their shoulders every once in a while...

my goodness Karin, what camera are you using? Fantastic shots... I definitely need a better camera to make crawling round on my tummy on the grass, worthwhile!

LOL!!! I am going to have to use that from now on, it will explain it enough so that I wont have to go into details.

Brandon, same here! We went to a party at our neighbors recently & they were telling all their friends about my eccentric behavior! I told them it just takes to much effort to be normal - I was never much good at it & now I've stopped trying! :)

Thanks Rubens! It was a scorcher here today but I guess I got lucky!
Sergio, I will pass on the messages to Yasser & let him know how keen everyone is to get their PN goodies!

it's a good thing he likes me. Now when he sees me out in his pasture he just laughs, shakes his head, and waves. LOL ;-)

Brandon, haha that does sound like a tough situation to explain away! :)

LOL! Karen, my neighbor came out and asked me one morning why i was sitting next to a pile of cow manure in his pasture at first light.... (many different kinds of insects were gathering around and I was trying to get combination macro shot)

What about "Naturally mad" ?

KarenL
KarenL 11 years ago

Sergio, I feel an idea for a Project Noah T-shirt slogan coming on - something along the lines of 'nature mad!"

Thank you for your kind comment Jeannette! I've been trying to snap the great spangled fritillaries for weeks too but no luck there!
Brandon, I am sure they would! Mine used to ask me why I was standing out in the yard in torrential rain (turkeys) or lying on my stomach (spiders) now they just put my eccentric behavior down to me being British!
