Clytus ruricola
Black beetle with exquisite patterning on back. Appeared to be able to fly, showed no interest. Evidently missing his right back leg. Seemed to stretch his left back leg to compensate.
Thanks Mayra!
Lorelei, it is always good to learn something new! Thanks so much for trying!
That's what I was thinking, Goody! Good thing it's native, I don't mind having these around here!
Hang on, guys. The link that East End provided is for the Asian long-horned beetle, NOT the beetle that is in this spotting. This one (Clytus ruricola) is very much native to the U.S. and is not an invasive species.
East End aka Lorelei, I just checked out the link, and that is for the Asian Longhorned Beetle, which I don't think is what I have here.
Thanks East End aka Lorelei! I will report them, but does it mean I have to kill him? D: He was so cool!
Great series! It's an invasive species and, evidently, it's very destructive. There's a number to call and report them to the NY State DEC. Here's the link for their flyer:

It does appear much like that Ashish! Strange, I thought he was quite one-of-a-kind, but I guess there are many similar species!
Its very close to Locust beetles.

Ashish, you are correct. I mentioned that above in my notes. He may have been injured.
Goody, I tried to make a more interesting name for such an interesting beetle...what do you think of it?
