Cindy,Birds foot falls into the Acmispon genus. The alternative genus name seems to be lotus.

Hi Emma, this is a species of Acmispon. Check out http://www.calflora.org/ and select your county and enter this genus name. Many of those that come up are similar but since you saw it in person, you may be able to tell which one this is.
