Yep, I think this is the Artist's Conk (Ganoderma Applanatum). Although usually the top side of the fungus is covered by the brown spores that are blown by the wind, this is the color that the top part is. Plus, the underside is brown when scratched. Also this fungus is a very versatile one, living on wood all over the world. So the area where it grows is the right one.
I think G. applanatum is right on the money. I found one last year in my yard. Common name here is Southern Bracket - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/229... Great spotting, Viv.

Maybe this is Ganoderma Applanatum. See if the underside of the fungus bruises brown if scratched.
