Ardea herodias
The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird in the heron family Ardeidae, common near the shores of open water and in wetlands over most of North and Central America as well as the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands.
Wondering if anyone has seen a great blue standing like that. I've seen hundreds if not thousands of these in my life and never seen one standing with his/her wings in that form. Stayed like that for over 30 minutes and that's after I saw it.

I see tons of Great Blues here in North Florida, and I have to say, I haven't ever witnessed this stance. Nice spot and photos
Nice capture! There are some pics here on PN with GBH's resting like that...it is really odd! I think they might keep cool that way.
Anyone ever seen a great blue sitting like that? I've never seen their wings bent like that, just curious if anyone else has.
