Giant Yellow Stag Beetle

Odontolabis femoralis

Description:

This is yellow stag beetle with short mandible. The head and prothorax are black and covered with fine granulation. The elytra are smooth and yellow.

Habitat:

Bronx Zoo Exhibit

Notes:

Males use their mandibles to attract and compete for females. They eat sap and fruit. Larvae eat rotting vegetation
