Description:

A medium sized bird with black and white plumage. The face is white with a black hood and throat. Belly feathers are white and the white continues up the shoulders to the back of either eye. Pics 1 & 2 are of the female bird. Pic #3 shows a female on the left and male on the right

Habitat:

widespread in urban areas - usually around rivers and swamps. spotted these two in a marshy patch close to a nature reserve.
