Plains Prickly-pear Cactus

Opuntia polyacantha Haw.

Description:

These were ones found after snow melt and they were sparse, flat, in green and red color. Sharp needles on all sides.

Habitat:

rocky ground or rock piles in open areas near forest.

Notes:

Found while hiking near Hauser Lake, Montana
