Western Yellow-bellied Racer

Coluber constrictor mormon

Description:

This species could be either patterned or solid. This one of course is a solid greyish brown.

Habitat:

near water but also in brush, trash piles, roadsides, swamps

Notes:

someone tried to kill it thinking it was dangerous. We saved it by hiding it under a cover of a pile of rocks. Sure it was alive when we left it.

I'm glad you saved it too! People can be so stupid when it comes to snakes. They're amazing animals, and the way they move is mesmerizing.

Glad you saved it.

Looks like a western yellow-bellied racer to me... nonvenomous and harmless. What a shame that someone tried to kill it!
