Mexican Petunia

Ruellia brittoniana 'chi-chi'

Description:

A Pink flower about about knee-high, with opposite, furry, lanceolate leaves. A Pink variation of R. brittoniana.

Habitat:

This is very abundant in my Mom's garden. I feel like it's becoming a weed.

Notes:

The one in the picture is a cross section of the flower, showing it's reproductive parts. The last image in the series is it's fruit, after dispersing it's seeds. -- Thanks Viv for the ID!

It's alright, thanks for the suggestion though, did a little looking with the Ruellia species, it looks more closely related to R. brittoniana variation 'Chi-chi'. A pink variation of the Mexican Petunia.

Not 100% ident Little Rex as the flower form is slightly different and yours is pink. If you wet the ripe seed heads they might pop. Hence the common name Popping Pod or Cracker plant
