Cope's Grey Tree Frog

Hyla versicolor

Description:

As the scientific name implies, Gray treefrogs are variable in color owing to their ability to camouflage themselves from gray to green, depending on the substrate they are sitting on. The degree of mottling varies. They can change from nearly black to nearly white. They change color at a slower rate than a chameleon

A Tree Frog? Awesome! I need to better understand how to tell the difference between frogs and toads I guess. I assumed that because he wasn't directly near water he was a Toad (although there were plenty of marshy areas and ponds nearby). I will have a look at the leads you provided and make my best guess. Thanks very much NeilDazet and BrandonBlount! You guys are great.

Could also be the Hyla versicolor as the two breeds are almost identical. The only way to tell them apart is by their call, the chrysoscelis has a faster higher pitched call than the versicolor.
