Mountain Pink

Zeltnera Beyrichii

Description:

Erect, multiple-branched plant 4-12in. high that grows in the shape of an inverted cone, that looks like a pink bouquet.

Habitat:

There were a number of these plants growing on very thin soil or rock on the Belton Lake spillway.

Notes:

The plant was used medicinally by the pioneers. The flowers were dried and used to reduce fevers.
