A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Zoanthus spp.
Colonial animals with several individual polyps attached to a piece of live rock or coral rubble. Zoanthids are unique in that they incorporate sand and other small pieces of material into their tissue to help create their structure. Photographed with permission at: Aquatic Critter, 5009 Nolensville Road, Nashville, TN 37211
In the wild, Zoanthids often occupy fringe environments (intertidal, back reef, other shallow areas, over dead corals), making them quite a hardy choice for the reef aquarist.

Fantastic!!
Gorgeous !
wonderful series, wonderful information.
The location window feature does not seem to be working. I tried putting it in the location section, but it would not keep it. Even when I tried a second time, the window feature was not working.
Thank you for adding the location in the Habitat section! The location is very helpful to know for spottings. Many people use PN for a trail guide and if they look for organisms in their local area, they may just think these can be found wild :) Including the aquarium/zoo/etc in the habitat section helps to avoid confusion. Beautiful series as usual!
