At the moment, there is only 1 specie under the genus Epidares. However, there are some differences between the species seen in different locations in Sarawak, previously taken as variations among the specie. However, those variations have been distinctive to the particular location giving rise to possibility of them being different of sub-species. DNA analysis in the future might be able to provide more clues to them. This spotting are from Kubah National Park, whereby the Males have greenish back. Another spotting posted separately from Bako National Park, with the Males having Y-spines and without the green color on their back.
