Banded Water snake

Nerodia fasciata

Habitat:

Horse Pasture River on the Foothills Trail in the Pisgah National Forest, NC.

Notes:

I waited, but the snake would never come out from under the rock. But the head shape and markings made me think that this is a Banded Water Snake.
