Peltoschema sp.
An entirely green small leaf beetle causing some defoliation of a domestic Lillipilly bush.
Domestic Garden Calomela pallida is a larger beetle also described as being on Lillipilly. On closer inspection it is a different species.
Well Leuba has found this beetle. And Mark has found this Beetle Even Leeanne in Queensland has seen it. "Where are they hiding?" Geoff complained. A random post on Bowerbird mentioned the (misnamed but properly photographed) beetle eating someones lillipilly. Well the secret was out. And Geoff has a Lillipilly in his very own garden!! And Lois had mentioned they were being eaten!! Well in five paces and five minutes we had discovered several. Here is the photo. Lesson... something chewing on your garden plants is a good thing for a citizen naturalist.

No firm conclusions. MV is high-powered, expensive and will become unavailable after 2015 due to the mercury content. Not sure what the best alternative is - I was also looking for a portable solution (12V) and it broke my budget very easily.
Oh, Geoff knows about your late night antics.
However I am disposed to try night lights for some remaining missing Chrysomelid beetles which I suspect are nocturnal. Maybe even your elusive Paropsis intermedia.
Did you research mercury vapor lights? Any suggestions?
Sigh.... all this importation of foreign tree species from north of the border(s). Tell Geoff they also hang around car yards late at night.
