Cyathus striatus
This is the second spotting of this fungi. I wanted to see what they looked like when open. The fruiting bodies of this fungi resemble tiny bird's nests filled with eggs. Growing on a piece of rotten coconut palm frond. The first spotting is added below.

Thanks Sukanya .. I've found lots of fungi this season when I've been out walking, that I had'nt noticed before.
Thanks Mark!
I can't answer Viv. It may be that microscopic work is required? But in particular I like the peridiole colour of yours - described as 'ivory' in C subglobisporus.
I so want to see one of these...spotted plate- like ones in Andamans but photography in that area was strictly forbidden. Congrats on a super find.
That's the same as I read but found it here Mark http://openi.nlm.nih.gov/detailedresult.... - I was comparing the images, the description is beyond me as a complete novice. Do you think I should amend the spotting to C. subglobisporus then?
The formal description sure sounds good here https://www.scienceopen.com/document/vid...
Thanks guys! I've amended this spotting and the first. I found this when I was checking striatus .. Cyathus subglobisporus - A new species found in the north of Thailand back in 2008. Possible? I'm down in the south.
Great find, Viv. I agree with Mark, the ribbed surface of the cups suggests a different species, perhaps Cyathus striatus.
Nice Viv. This one looks different sp. to stercoreus to me. Strong fluting on the inside of tall splash cups, and different coloured peridioles. The substrate might suggest another also.
Goegeous find Viv,super, congrats and thanks for sharing
