Odocoileus virginianus
The deer's coat is a reddish-brown in the spring and summer and turns to a grey-brown throughout the fall and winter. The deer can be recognized by the characteristic white underside to its tail, which it shows as a signal of alarm by raising the tail during escape.
Native to all but five of the United States!
I stumbled upon this deer while she was sleeping. She didn't get up when she saw me, so I quietly sat down next to her. I must have been only five feet away. We just sat quietly together, looking at each other, for about 20 minutes before I had to leave.

Great close up shots and great story about how you got them.
