Jumping Spider

Tutelina elegans

Description:

About 6mm long. Body is metallic gold with a cream colored band around the anterior portion of the abdomen. Two large eyes are positioned top front of the head and are close set. Four smaller occelli are positioned on laterally, with a pair in front and a pair in back. legs are reddish to purplish, longitudinally striped with cream.

Habitat:

Urban garden.

Notes:

This spider sat still on a leaf long enough for me to get some good shots. Later, I saw it running about the leaf, madly waving its palps.
