Wasp with Eggs in the Nest

Polistes instabilis

Description:

This is one of Costa Rica's larger wasps. It measures about 1 1/2" long. As with this spotting, I see many nests by this species about 3' off the ground. This nest was attached to a tall cactus. Look closely and you will see the eggs inside.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 7 weeks into the rainy season.
