No, they do not dig with the bill, they stand in shallow water and sweep the bill from side to side to stir up the mud on the bottom and release aquatic insects, small aquatic animals, plants and other food items which they feed on.
Nice one never seen a bird whit the bill like this. It has a this a special bill to dig??
