Red-winged Parrot

Aprosmictus erythropterus

Description:

This brightly-coloured bird is also known as the crimson-winged parrot. It usually lives in pairs or small family groups. The males acquire their brilliant colours during their third annual moult. These beautiful birds nest in tree hollows, often near water. Five or six eggs are laid on wood dust in a chamber close to the ground.
