It was so funny how she would try to lead me away acting like she had a broken wing, but then the wing would change!! All of a sudden her Other wing was supposedly hurt, lol!! This was in a parking lot at the state fair grounds and we moved a parking sign closer to her and her eggs so cars couldn't possibly run over them. When we came back to our car in the evening the momma and her eggs were gone... Hopefully she was able to move them. We didn't see any broken shells at all.

Great spotting! Was it playing like it had a broken wing? I spotted one a while ago doing this. Apparently the chicks hatch and can move around right away. No doubt because they nest on the ground.

I don't see how they can live successfully when laying eggs on gravel (that means a driveway or trail or other traffic area)....especially when the eggs blend in...nice spotting:)
