Northern Short-tailed Shrew

Blarina brevicauda

Habitat:

Bird feeders at Starved Rock State Park

Notes:

While photographing birds at the feeders at Starved Rock State Park, I kept seeing this little blur bolting across the ground from a hole. It was grabbing a variety of seeds that had fallen from the feeders. This short-tailed shrew was very difficult to get photos of even with a flash. It was so quick!
