Numida meleagris
The Helmeted Guineafowl is a large (53–58 cm) bird with a round body and small head. They weigh about 1.3 kg. The body plumage is gray-black spangled with white. Like other guineafowl, this species has an unfeathered head, in this case decorated with a dull yellow or reddish bony knob, and red and blue patches of skin. The wings are short and rounded, and the tail is also short. Helmeted Guineafowl are great runners, and can walk 10 km and more in a day.
It breeds in Africa, mainly south of the Sahara, and has been widely introduced into the West Indies, Brazil, Australia and southern France. Seen at Nairobi National Park

What a lovely surprise! Thank you, Yasser, for choosing this spotting. There are so many wonderful photos and spottings on PNoah and this is an honor. And thanks for all the nice comments - I'm glad you enjoyed the photos of this unique bird.
Congratulations María! Great spotting and picture! What an amazing bird! Glad it walks and runs a lot and maybe does not fly because I imagine that - maybe - when spotting one, it is sort of nicer to face it for the first time while approaching it walking than having it just land in front of you... Congratulations once more and thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures from which we learn a lot about our planet´s biodiversity too =)
