Green Lynx Spider

Peucetea viridans

Description:

Yellow and red spider with a long abdomen and long legs. The legs were speckled, and the head has a marking shaped like a peace sign.

Habitat:

Its web was on a really tall (5 or more feet) solitary weed in a field near a forest

Notes:

It was a windy day and its web was waving around terribly. I thought it was weird that it would make its home on a spot so susceptible to the wind. The spider seemed aggressive, waving its legs around if we even came close to the plant.

Thanks! The color variations of this spider are really interesting. It looks like there are quite a few color forms.

Not all specimens of the Green Lynx Spider are "green."
