Black back an wings with white spots. White belly and head. Black line on head near eye. Red patch on top of head. The beak is more than half the width of the head, leading me to believe it is a hairy and not a downy.

In Indonesia we call thiws bird ' burung pelatuk ' ( burung = bird )
