It almost looks like a Tricolored heron, but I would still go with Limpkin.
If you travel to south florida they are everywhere. I see very few in northern florida but ebird says otherwise.
Thanks jamie, I thought about that but it was as big as a Sandhill Crane and made similar sounds, could it be a young Sandhill? Coloring is what is throwing me.
