Description:

Simple, alternate, coarsely toothed, narrowing outward to a point, to 6 in. long, stalk shorter than blade; surface often somewhat wavy. Flower is single, long stalked, hanging, red, the central column like that of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, but the 5 petals are bent back, deeply and repeatedly cut and curved.
