Two-spotted Long-horned Bees (mating)

Melissodes bimaculata

Description:

Medium sized bees. Dark with golden hairs on the rear legs. Males have long antennae and golden hairs on the face as well.. This was an interesting find of a larger female with two males fighting over her. One was actively mating and the other was attempting to get the other male off of the female. Eventually, they fell down to the ground and everyone went their own ways.

Habitat:

Suburban backyard garden.
